I'm a bit surprised that you don't know the ideologies of your own religion.
That surprised isn't so great as I have come to understand that few do.
Also, picking one particular brand name of Christianity from the hundreds is
rather pointless as all brand names are basically the same and equal in
ideology. Only the /degree/ of rabidity, unreason, and tyranny differs from
one brand name to the next. Additionally, all so-called 'monotheistic'
religions fall into the deadly, not just one brand name of one religion.
The reason why the framers of the U. S. Constitution placed a wall of
separation between religious cults and the State is their understanding and
knowledge of world history and a firm knowledge of the deadly ideologies
which allow the slaughter of innocent people. They didn't wish to have the
new world experience the untold slaughters and tyrannies at the hands of
believers which the old world experienced.
GN> Perhaps you can reference the Catechism of the Catholic
GN> Church or Dr Ott's "Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma."
I'm an atheist. I don't need to have others do my thinking for me.
I will once again list but a few of the more deadly ideologies which
Christians suffer under -- except that innocent, non-believers have suffered
far greater than believers. I have enumerated more in a message to you two
years ago yet you elected not to review it -- for obvious reasons. As it is,
I refuse to go to a great deal of effort just to assist you in breaking free
of your deadly ideologies. That's something you need to do for yourself.
For now, I will list just those few major contributors to world misery:
1) The belief that everyone is somehow involved or connected in
some way to the beliefs held by the Christian. This belief
holds that everyone -- be they Christians, other theists, or
atheists -- are still involved with the Christian deities some
how. This has been and continues to be one of the most deadly
ideologies of Christianity.
2) The belief that non-believers in the Christian myths are in
any event capable of violating the tenets of same. The belief
that "everyone sins," -- indeed, the belief that everyone is
capabel of 'sin' -- is probably the single most deadly ideology
upon which Christianity is based. This one has lent itself
toward allowing Christians to slaughter people whom they wished
under the banner "better off dead now than sin any further."
3) The ideology of an "after life." The belief that life is just a
cartoon before the main event has allowed many children to be
killed by their parents under a variety of banners. Among the
most historically deadly (and, sadly, even in contemporary
times) is the belief that applying medical knowledge to sick and
dying children is contrary to the will of the Christian gods.
Since when they die they're not really dead, the slaughters of
innocent children under this banner are many.
4) The ideal that holds that followers of other religions are
really (unknowingly or knowingly) following the Christian
religion. The belief that all other religions are manufactured
by the Christian god called 'Satan' has also been a very
deadly ideology though not quite as deadly to innocent people
as some of the others.
5) The belief that scientific method is flawed somehow simply
because it doesn't support the beliefs held by the Christian.
This bit of ideology has stalled scientific progress greatly
down through the centuries, curtailing advancement in medical
knowledge as, indeed, all avenues of scientific inquiry. In
the past avenues of inquiry were religated to the mind of the
Christian gods and Christian masters demanded that men were
not "ment" to know. How many people have died because religion
holds science as flawed is a matter of conjecture and really
pointless as it's a game of "what might have been." What is
uncontestable is the fact that stalled scientific inquiry has
a direct impact upon the health and safety of a /growing/
population in terms of fresh water, nebilabil lands, and food
growing and distribution.
6) The belief that the population of humans on the planet is not
of any concern. (Coupled to this highly deadly ideology is the
belief that sexual behavior is 'dirty.') The demands by the
Christian masters to continue to populate without employing
techology to limit reproduction is one of the most deadly aspects
of Christian ideology threatening to destroy humanity. Already
near Draconian measures must be taken to support the population
the planet already has and planetary politics allow generations
to die anyway. And yet the Christian ideology that there will
never be a population problem even in direct conflict of observed
problems /now/ continues unabaited.
The number of Christian ideologies which allow the slaughter of innocent
people can be summed up nicely simply by reading Numbers 31:17-18. The
belief that the Christian gods can justify such slaughters of innocent people
continues today in the murdering of abortion providers.
Why anyone would willingly join the Christian death cult with the knowledge of
what it stands for is beyond my ability to understand. Perhaps it is because
my ethics compell me to a higher degree of morality which assists me in not
understanding.
